1. Getting Started
First Launch
When you first open the app, a 4-page onboarding walkthrough appears:
- Welcome message
- Flexible travel planning
- Split bills feature
- Memory recording feature
Tap "Skip" or "Get Started" to go to the main screen.
Main Screen Layout
The bottom tab bar has 5 tabs:

2. Login & Account
Social Login
Flowplit uses social login only β no separate sign-up required:

Profile Setup
After logging in, you can set up your profile:
- Nickname: Display name on feed and social features
- Profile Image: Take a photo or choose from your library
- Default Currency: Default currency for new trips
3. Creating a Trip
Add a New Trip
- Go to the Trips tab
- Tap the + button at the top right
- Fill in the trip details:
- Trip Name: e.g. "Tokyo Trip", "Family Vacation to Jeju"
- Notes: Trip purpose or theme (optional)
- Start / End Date: Trip duration
- Cover Color: Trip card color
- Cover Image: Representative photo (optional)
- Default Currency: Currency for budget entries
- Budget Limit: Total trip budget (optional)
- Tap Save
Edit / Delete a Trip
- Swipe left on a trip card to reveal Edit / Delete buttons
- Or long press a card to open the context menu
4. Adding Plans
How to Add a Plan
- Tap a trip card to open trip details
- Select the Plans tab
- Tap the + button at the bottom right
- Fill in the plan details:
- Title: e.g. "Shinjuku Shopping"
- Location: Search places on Google Maps (coordinates auto-saved)
- Date: A date within the trip period
- Start Time: Expected activity time
- Duration: Estimated duration (minutes)
- Category: Dining, Sightseeing, Accommodation, Shopping, etc.
- Estimated Cost: Budget (currency selectable)
- Transportation: How to get there from the previous location + travel cost
- Notes: Reservation numbers, tips, etc.
- Tap Save
Complete a Plan & Review
- Tap the β button on the left side of a plan to mark it as done
- After completion, you can enter the actual cost, rating, and review
5. Using Alternatives (Plan B)
The core feature of Flowplit! Add alternatives to any plan.
How to Add an Alternative
- Swipe left on a plan card
- Tap the Add Alternative button
- Fill in the alternative plan details
- Tap Save
Managing Alternatives
- Badge: Plans with alternatives display a badge
- Expand / Collapse: Tap the badge to show/hide alternatives
- Compare: Use the "Compare" button to view alternatives side by side
- Switch: Promote any alternative to the main plan
Main Plan: Universal Studios (might cancel if it rains)

6. Split Bills / Settlement
Adding Participants
- Trip details -> Tap the Participants button at the top
- Tap the + Add button
- Enter a name -> avatar color is auto-assigned
Recording Expenses
- Trip details -> Expenses tab
- Tap the + button
- Fill in expense details:
- Title: e.g. "Lunch"
- Amount: Expense amount
- Currency: Payment currency (multi-currency supported)
- Category: Food, Transport, Accommodation, Shopping, Sightseeing, Other
- Paid by: Person who paid
- Participants: People to split with (default: everyone)
- Receipt: Attach a photo (optional)
- Tap Save
Checking Settlement
- Tap the Settlement Summary button at the bottom of the Expenses tab
- See who owes whom and how much
- A greedy algorithm automatically calculates the minimum number of transactions
7. Packing List
Adding Items
- Trip details -> Packing tab
- Tap the + button
- Enter item name, category, and quantity
- Tap Save
Using the Checklist
- Tap the checkbox on the left to mark items as packed
- A progress bar at the top shows overall status
- Items are grouped by category
8. Recording Memories
Adding a Memory from the Map
- Go to the Map tab (Google Maps)
- Long press on the location you want to record
- Select Add New Memory
- Enter title, notes, photos, and link to a trip
- Tap Save
Timeline View
- The Memories tab shows all memories in chronological order
- Grouped by date β tap to view details
9. Social Features
Feed
Explore trips shared by other users:
- Browse public trips in the Feed tab
- Tap a trip card to view the detailed itinerary
- Visibility can be set per trip: Private / Followers Only / Public
Follow / Following
- Follow users you're interested in to see their trips in your feed
- Check follower/following counts on profile pages
Likes & Comments
- Tap β€οΈ Like on trips in the feed
- Leave comments with feedback or questions about a trip
- Likes and bookmarks are reflected instantly (optimistic update)
Sharing Your Trip
- Trip details -> Share Settings
- Choose visibility: Private / Followers Only / Public
- Public trips are automatically shown in the feed
10. Widgets
How to Add Widgets
- Long press on your home screen
- Tap the + button at the top left
- Search for "Flowplit"
- Choose your preferred widget size

11. Export / Share
- Trip details -> Tap the Share button at the top right
- Select items to include: Plans, Flowchart, Budget, Expenses, Settlement
- Choose a format:
- HTML: View in a web browser
- PDF: Printable document
- Watch a short ad, then export
12. Sync
Server Sync (When Logged In)
Server sync is automatically enabled when you log in:
- All trips, plans, expenses, and packing data are backed up to the server
- Offline support: Use the app without internet. Data syncs automatically when you're back online
- In case of conflicts, the most recent edit wins (Last-Writer-Wins)

Q: Can I collaborate on trip plans with friends?
A: Yes! You can create an invite link from the trip details screen to invite friends. Invited friends can co-edit itineraries, expenses, and packing lists with real-time sync.
Q: Can I use Flowplit offline?
A: Yes, most features work offline. Data syncs automatically when you reconnect. Weather info and place search require an internet connection.
Q: How do I back up my data?
A: When logged in, data is automatically backed up to the server. You can also export trips as HTML/PDF for safekeeping.
Q: How do I create more trips?
A: The free version allows 1 trip. Watch a short ad to create additional trips.
Q: Will my data transfer if I log in on a different device?
A: Yes, logging in with the same social account (Apple/Google) automatically restores all your data from the server.
