1. Getting Started

First Launch

When you first open the app, a 4-page onboarding walkthrough appears:

  1. Welcome message
  2. Flexible travel planning
  3. Split bills feature
  4. Memory recording feature

Tap "Skip" or "Get Started" to go to the main screen.

2. Login & Account

Social Login

Flowplit uses social login only β€” no separate sign-up required:

3. Creating a Trip

Add a New Trip

  1. Go to the Trips tab
  2. Tap the + button at the top right
  3. Fill in the trip details:
    • Trip Name: e.g. "Tokyo Trip", "Family Vacation to Jeju"
    • Notes: Trip purpose or theme (optional)
    • Start / End Date: Trip duration
    • Cover Color: Trip card color
    • Cover Image: Representative photo (optional)
    • Default Currency: Currency for budget entries
    • Budget Limit: Total trip budget (optional)
  4. Tap Save

4. Adding Plans

How to Add a Plan

  1. Tap a trip card to open trip details
  2. Select the Plans tab
  3. Tap the + button at the bottom right
  4. Fill in the plan details:
    • Title: e.g. "Shinjuku Shopping"
    • Location: Search places on Google Maps (coordinates auto-saved)
    • Date: A date within the trip period
    • Start Time: Expected activity time
    • Duration: Estimated duration (minutes)
    • Category: Dining, Sightseeing, Accommodation, Shopping, etc.
    • Estimated Cost: Budget (currency selectable)
    • Transportation: How to get there from the previous location + travel cost
    • Notes: Reservation numbers, tips, etc.
  5. Tap Save

5. Using Alternatives (Plan B)

The core feature of Flowplit! Add alternatives to any plan.

How to Add an Alternative

  1. Swipe left on a plan card
  2. Tap the Add Alternative button
  3. Fill in the alternative plan details
  4. Tap Save

Managing Alternatives

Example:
Main Plan: Universal Studios (might cancel if it rains)

6. Split Bills / Settlement

Adding Participants

  1. Trip details -> Tap the Participants button at the top
  2. Tap the + Add button
  3. Enter a name -> avatar color is auto-assigned

Recording Expenses

  1. Trip details -> Expenses tab
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Fill in expense details:
    • Title: e.g. "Lunch"
    • Amount: Expense amount
    • Currency: Payment currency (multi-currency supported)
    • Category: Food, Transport, Accommodation, Shopping, Sightseeing, Other
    • Paid by: Person who paid
    • Participants: People to split with (default: everyone)
    • Receipt: Attach a photo (optional)
  4. Tap Save

Checking Settlement

  1. Tap the Settlement Summary button at the bottom of the Expenses tab
  2. See who owes whom and how much
  3. A greedy algorithm automatically calculates the minimum number of transactions
Even with multiple currencies, the settlement is automatically converted to your default currency.

7. Packing List

Adding Items

  1. Trip details -> Packing tab
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Enter item name, category, and quantity
  4. Tap Save

Adding a Memory from the Map

  1. Go to the Map tab (Google Maps)
  2. Long press on the location you want to record
  3. Select Add New Memory
  4. Enter title, notes, photos, and link to a trip
  5. Tap Save

  1. Trip details -> Share Settings
  2. Choose visibility: Private / Followers Only / Public
  3. Public trips are automatically shown in the feed

  1. Long press on your home screen
  2. Tap the + button at the top left
  3. Search for "Flowplit"
  4. Choose your preferred widget size

11. Export / Share

  1. Trip details -> Tap the Share button at the top right
  2. Select items to include: Plans, Flowchart, Budget, Expenses, Settlement
  3. Choose a format:
    • HTML: View in a web browser
    • PDF: Printable document
  4. Watch a short ad, then export

12. Sync

Server Sync (When Logged In)

Server sync is automatically enabled when you log in:

Even if you edit on multiple devices while offline, everything merges automatically when you reconnect.

Q: Can I collaborate on trip plans with friends?

A: Yes! You can create an invite link from the trip details screen to invite friends. Invited friends can co-edit itineraries, expenses, and packing lists with real-time sync.

Q: Can I use Flowplit offline?

A: Yes, most features work offline. Data syncs automatically when you reconnect. Weather info and place search require an internet connection.

Q: How do I back up my data?

A: When logged in, data is automatically backed up to the server. You can also export trips as HTML/PDF for safekeeping.

Q: How do I create more trips?

A: The free version allows 1 trip. Watch a short ad to create additional trips.

Q: Will my data transfer if I log in on a different device?

A: Yes, logging in with the same social account (Apple/Google) automatically restores all your data from the server.
